TIPS ~ Day 3

DON’T GIVE UP!
I know some of you feel like you have failed miserably over the past 2 days. If that is you, then today is the day to start up again! Make it a 5 day sweep. It is totally fine. If you blew it only a little bit, remember, today is a new day. Start fresh. Don’t give up. You are your own worst enemy and the devil knows it. He will use your mind to tell you that you can’t possibly do this, but guess what!? YOU CAN!

SLEEP
Sleep depravation is a very serious thing. It actually decays both your mind and your body. The average adult needs 7-8 hours of sleep. Don’t kid yourself if you think you need less. It is just not true. You can easily find out how many hours of sleep you personally need by doing a simple sleep test over 2-3 days. Find at least 2 days in a row that you can go to sleep at a reasonable time (before 10) and wake up the next morning without an alarm or someone waking you. Many of us actually need closer to 9 hours to have our best most productive days. If that is you and you have a hard time waking up in the morning, adjust your bedtime by going to bed at 8:30 or 9pm.

HUNGER PAINS
Remember, this is not a diet in the normal sense. Eat all you can. High fiber and high protein foods don’t fill you up for as long as grains do, so you will get hungry much quicker, so you will need to eat more often and that is OK. There is no limit to only three meals a day or 2 snacks a day. Go buy some nitrate and chemical free natural turkey breast. When you get hungry, pull out a slice or two, roll it up and eat it up. Drink 16 ounces of water all at once. Eat another apple. Eat another yogurt. Eat another egg. Eat another bowl of carrots. Eat some grilled chicken from the fridge. Eat double servings, just don’t get hungry. That is when you will give up and cheat.

BORING DIET OPTIONS
This type of limiting diet can get boring, and fast. Mix it up by heading to your favorite fast food place. This will not be economical if you need to feed your whole family, so I suggest you go out on your own when everyone is at work or school and get some items to go or take a break and eat by yourself. I have listed some places under the Eating Out section for you to go to that you can get your whole meal for under $6 sometimes cheaper sometimes a bit more if you want larger portions (because you are allowed to eat as much as you want).

WATER & WEIGHT LOSS
Without changing your diet at all and just adding the flushing effects of water equal to about a gallon a day you will loose weight. It will be slower but over 6 months of just this change alone you will loose anywhere from 10-24 lbs.

WATER & PEE
Right about now your body should be acclimating to your water consumption. The first 2 days you should have felt like you were going to the bathroom every hour. Especially if you were drinking green tea. You should level out and if you are not, keep drinking all the water you need to but try this bladder strengthening trick. When you feel like you need to go to the bathroom (#1 only) hold it for an extra 15 minutes. Watch the clock though. Any longer and you can get a UTI. If you hold it for an extra 15 minutes every time, over the next 2-3 days you will see a substantial difference in your ability to go longer periods of time without going all the time. We need to train our bodies to be like camels so DRINK UP!
